Volunteen Summer Program
Requirements
- Applications can be printed from our website or picked up from the Information Desk beginning January 1st.
- Completed Applications can be returned by mail, fax, or returned to our Information Desk no later than April 15th. (Firm Deadline, must be postmarked by April 15th)
- The Summer Program begins Monday, June 15th and ends Friday, August 7th.
- A parent/guardian MUST attend the Orientation Session with you.
- The Summer Program is for teens who will be in town during the summer and who will not be taking extended vacations, attending summer school or camp sessions.
- This program requires a teen to volunteer every week on their assigned day at the time of their assigned shift. The teen is able to commit to a one day a week for a four-hour am or pm shift. Teen is able to commit to a one day a week for a four-hour am or pm shift.
- Only one (1) absence is permitted during the eight (8) week program.
- Teens need to RSVP for an Orientation Session. Orientation Sessions will cover: Uniform attire, teen schedule, absences, expected conduct, parental concerns related to dropping off teens and locating teen during volunteer time. Training will include but is not limited to the following topics: Security of Patient Information, Usage of Phones and Cell Phones, Customer Service, Lunch, Training Checklists, Computer Sign-In, Meet your Coordinator/Staff, Fire and Safety, and Patient Confidentiality/HIPPA.
- Uniform attire - Khaki pants, tennis shoes, red volunteer t-shirt and identification badge must be worn at all times while on DCH campus.
- Teens will work with their volunteer coordinator to schedule any necessary days off and their last volunteer day of the summer program.
- Each teen will complete an end-of-year evaluation and submit to his/her coordinator.
- Appropriate staff members who worked with summer teens will also complete an end-of-year evaluation.
Year around teens are recruited through the Summer Program. In order to be a year around Volunteen, you must have already been through a Summer Volunteen Program. Teen Program available on Corpus Christi campus only.
