FROM GRANDE COMMUNICATIONS® FOR FREE CPR KITS
Kits, training to be given away at upcoming
Nueces Co. Health Fair - free and open to public
Grande Communications® Check Presentation

Driscoll Children’s Hospital - Main Lobby
(Corpus Christi, TX) Almost 80% of cardiac
arrests occur at home and are witnessed by a family member. Less than
5% of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive because the vast majority
of those witnessing the arrest are people who do not know how to perform
CPR. Fast, efficient CPR can double or triple a victim’s chance
of survival. On Monday, August 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m., Driscoll Children’s
Hospital will receive a $5,000 grant from Grande Communications® to
purchase Friends & Family CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) Anytime
Kits. The grant was funded through Grande’s Passion & Commitment
Investment Club.
“We are delighted to support Driscoll
and the Family and Friends CPR Training Program,” said Dottie
Lane, General Manager of Grande. “The CPR
Anytime kits will help increase the number of trained individuals who
can save lives in emergency situations.”
The CPR Kits
The Family & Friends CPR Anytime Kits are personal CPR training programs
that can be used by an individual in the home or offered in a group setting.
These kits are easily implemented in workplace programs, school programs,
parent/teacher programs, youth programs and many other community-based
programs. The kits contain a CPR Skills DVD, resource booklet, CPR mannequin
and other accessories, and can be used with an initial CPR training and
shared with others or used to refresh CPR skills. By passing on to family
and friends, the kits can be used to train a large network of people.
Nueces County Medical Society’s Health Fair – Saturday,
August 26, 2006
The Family & Friends CPR Anytime Kits Committee comprised of American
Heart Association volunteers from around the Coastal Bend will facilitate
training sessions lead by CPR Anytime Kits at the Nueces County Medical
Society’s Health Fair on Saturday, August 26, 2006. Families are
encouraged to attend the free event and pick up two free kits.
“Each family will be allowed to receive
two kits,” says Diana Moser, Clinical Education Specialist
at Driscoll Children’s Hospital and American Heart Association Volunteer.
“We want this to be like a ripple effect. Mom receives a training
kit and participates in the training, but then she can take it home and
share with dad, grandma or any other adult in their family. This is not
a training that ends with one person.”
