Use of library materials: 

All books can be checked out from the library, including reference books. Journals may not be taken from the library.  Library users may photocopy journal articles for free inside the library. 

Hospital employees may check a maximum of 3 circulating books out of the library for 3-week loan periods.   Employees may also check books out of the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Bell Library using your Driscoll badge.  Present your ID badge at either library to have a library barcode attached to your badge.  DCH employees may not borrow media (slides, video, etc), journals or reference books from the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Library.

Texas A&M University Corpus Christi faculty, staff and students may check out a maximum of 3 circulating books from the Driscoll collection.  Present your TAMUCC ID card to check books out.  TAMUCC patrons may not check out reference books, journals or media from the DCH Library.

Interlibrary loan:

Driscoll staff, students, and clinicians may request books or journal articles not available at our library by filling out a request form in the library, e-mailing us, or calling the library. Please provide complete citation information for quicker service. If you are not affiliated with Driscoll you may contact us or use Loansome Doc. Interlibrary loan service is free. The library uses the National Library of Medicine's DOCLINE system to request articles from other libraries.

• Journal articles available locally usually are delivered to you by email within hours. Articles that must be obtained from other libraries usually arrive in a day or two. Please call the library if you need immediate service for patient care. These are handled immediately; we attempt to deliver article(s) within minutes.
• Books borrowed from other libraries usually take 2 weeks to arrive. We route book loan requests to the Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi Bell Library.

Reference assistance:

The library has seven computers with access to the Internet, several online journal indexes, PREP, Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics, e-mail, word processing and other programs.   A flatbed scanner and a slide viewer are also available.
