Pastoral Care

For more information,
please call (361) 694-5491.

The Pastoral Services Department works directly with patients, their families, and hospital staff providing spiritual and emotional support during hospitalization. This includes working with local clergy to meet the spiritual needs of our patients and their families.

Main Chapel

The Main Chapel is located off the First Floor Lobby area near the Gift Shop. In that small space made possible by the Hospital Auxiliary/Volunteers, is a peaceful place to be alone with your thoughts or pray. You may find it hard to believe, but though it is very small, the spirit here is large. We have celebrated weddings and baptisms here! Both patient families and staff find it a place they can go to when the need arises.

Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament

The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament is a special space located on the third floor near the NICU waiting area. This space is for the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament here in the hospital. Patients and families, visitors and staff who are far away from their home parish have an opportunity to pray, meditate, worship and find spiritual comfort and guidance in the presence of their Eucharistic Lord at any time day or night! It is a tiny but very intimate place at the feet of the Lord!

Interfaith Chapel

The Interfaith Chapel is a larger space located on the second floor of the Sloan Building that can seat about 33 people. This Chapel has been set aside to serve the religious needs of the patients, their families and staff members for group worship as well as individual prayer. Through the generosity of the John G. and Marie Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation, the Interfaith Chapel will soon be equipped to televise religious services over the hospital television network into each patient room. At present, our Catholic chaplain, Father John Vega, celebrates Daily Mass in the Interfaith Chapel, Monday through Friday at 11 AM, as well as Masses for Holy Days of Obligation, Easter and Christmas. The Interfaith chapel can be reached from anywhere in the hospital complex by the second floor interconnecting walkways. Below on this page is an interactive map that will direct you to the Interfaith Chapel from the major entrances of each building in the hospital complex.
